I feel so lucky that authors ask me to take part in their blog tours. I hope that you enjoy them too. I love when I have a chance to peel back the layers and find one of the author's favorite passages in a story. Today, Jamie shares one of her favorite excerpts with us... and YES! It's got kissing!
Before that fateful summer night, Willow had balanced the insight of emotion, and the vivid images. That night, the figure in her nightmare marked her wrist with a star, giving her father no choice but to tell Willow a family secret that would abruptly change life, as she knew it, forever. Before Willow had time to absorb the shock of her father's secret, her soul mate that had shared every stunning dream with her, found her, and darkness captured her closest friends. In order to save them, she must weave through broken myths and the undeniable power of the Zodiac. In the end, Willow discovers that at the moment of our birth we are all given a divine gift.

Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she’d never been, introduce her to people she’s never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

Excerpt
“How weird am I?” I asked, holding my eyes low.
“It’s not weird.” He pulled my chin up, still smiling, so I’d have to look him in the eye, “It has to do with your insight; the insight of emotion is not a common one. In fact, it’s unique that you, your father, and sister all have a gift.”
“But, they’re all different.”
“You still all have one,” he pointed out raising his brow to capitalize on that point.
“Do you have one?” I asked.
“I do.” he said, reaching down to the quilt at the end of the bed, pulling it over him, and settling in to sleep.
“Are you going to tell me?” I protested.
He was enjoying keeping me in suspense. He leaned forward and slowly kissed me again, sending my head into a numbing spin – trying to distract me, I’m sure. He was crazy if he thought he was going to sleep without telling me.
“What is it?” I thought as loud as I could.
He reluctantly stopped kissing me and stared into my eyes as his fingertip traced my bottom lip, then gently eased down my neck and settled just beside my collarbone.
Innocent thoughts, Willow. Get it together. Right now.
“Well, it’s not as interesting as all of yours.” His tone was deep, sensual. It caused every part of me to fill with fire. This was going to be the longest night of my life. I was sure of it. “I can determine truth or intent, but it’s flawed; people can change their intent in an instant.” The sinful smirk on the corner of his lips stopped my breath. What was he saying? He could feel my intent? This internal war I had going on right now.
“How does it work?” I asked as I told myself to stop blushing.
Landen lay back down, still staring at me.“I feel it. I can feel if they believe what they’re saying. The intent is harder to explain. I don’t see it or hear it, but I know what they intend to do.”
He did feel my internal war, but he was being a gentleman. They didn’t make guys like this where I came from. At least I’d never gotten close enough to one to know that they did.
